Patent Agent

Treyz Law Group is a boutique patent law firm specializing in patent preparation and prosecution. We are seeking candidates with 1-3+ years of patent preparation and/or prosecution experience in electrical engineering, circuits, computer science, computer networking, and/or semiconductors.

Patent bar registration is not required, although candidates should plan to sit for the patent bar within 1-2 years of onboarding. Candidates with a patent bar registration will join as patent agents. Some of our senior patent agents also choose to attend part-time law school, but attending law school is not required.

Job Responsibilities Include:

• Analyzing patents and other technical documents
• Identifying distinctions between inventions and earlier publications
• Drafting arguments and responses to Patent Office communications
• Meeting with inventors
• Drafting patent applications for new inventions
• Interfacing with foreign law firms to obtain patents in other countries
• Interfacing with in-house attorneys at our clients

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or similar
• Coursework or experience with analog and digital circuits, RF circuitry, semiconductors, electromagnetism, optics, computer programming, and/or computer networking
• Prior experience working in patent preparation, patent prosecution, a law firm environment, and/or IP
• Strong communication and writing skills
• Outstanding attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills

• Work remotely full time from California, Arizona, New York, or Hawaii

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary plus performance-based bonus is $100,000-$300,000+
