Patent Prosecution Engineering Associate

Barnes & Thornburg LLP is seeking a Patent Prosecution Engineering Associate to join our firm and highly regarded, nationally ranked Intellectual Property Department. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications. A degree and background in mechanical engineering is required.

Candidate Qualifications:

• 1-3 years of patent prosecution experience required

• Strong background in drafting and prosecuting patent applications

• Mechanical engineering degree required

• Registered and in good standing with the USPTO

• Admitted to practice in (IN, IL, MI or GA) or eligible for admission to the state bar

Preferred Experience:

• Managing patent portfolios

• Preparing patent opinion letters

• Advising on non-infringement and invalidity issues

• Conducting patent due diligence for corporate transactions and M&A matters

Salary:
The base salary range for this position is $215,000 – $250,000 (commensurate with experience). Performance-based bonus eligible.
