Description:

Summary:

Pediatrician will conduct thorough examinations, diagnoses illnesses, prescribes medications, administers vaccines, and provides guidance to parents regarding their child’s health, development, and well-being. The pediatrician will collaborate with other physicians and mid-level providers. The pediatrician will participate in medical and interdisciplinary clinical committees.

Follows established departmental policies, procedures and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and other control standards. Participates in quality assurance, quality improvement, peer review and special projects.

Essential duties, responsibilities, and privileges include:

  • Manages and maintains a program of comprehensive health for the patients, including preventive medicine, behavioral sciences, and community health.
  • Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury in infants and children in accordance to CHDP guidelines.
  • Examine children regularly to assess their growth and development.
  • Treat children who have minor illnesses, acute and chronic health problems, and growth and development concerns.
  • Examine patients or order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests to obtain information on medical condition and determine diagnosis.
  • Advise patients, parents or guardians, and community members concerning diet, activity, hygiene, and disease prevention.
  • Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients and parents or guardians.
  • Collect, record, and maintain patient information, such as medical history, reports, or examination results.
  • Monitor patients' conditions and progress and reevaluate treatments as necessary.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of nurses, students, assistants, specialists, therapists, and other medical staff.
  • Plan and execute medical care programs to aid in the mental and physical growth and development of children and adolescents.
  • Refer patient to medical specialist or another practitioner when necessary.
  • Provide supervision and consultation to mid-level practitioners, other physicians, medical students, resident physicians or physician extender students.
  • Perform outpatient clinic-based procedures to remove, repair, or improve functioning of diseased or injured body parts and systems, to the extent of their training and scope of practice.
  • Plan, implement, or administer health programs or standards in hospitals, businesses, or communities for prevention or treatment of injury or illness.
  • Prepare government or organizational reports of birth, death, and disease statistics, workforce evaluations, or medical status of individuals.
  • Provider may staff a variety of locations depending upon the need of the organization, with occasional Saturday shifts.
  • Employees are responsible for maintaining individual certifications as required by job function or by law and provide verification and recertification when requested by management.
  • Care management of highest risk patients to reduce risk, decrease hospital and ER utilization, and improve outcomes.
  • Interviews patient, obtains patient history, updates all information and documents in EHR according to standards.
  • Responsible for coordinating medical care with internal and external medical specialties as needed.
  • Ability to supervise, advice, train clinical professionals and/or students in area of expertise as well as, a variety of health-related topics, including first-aid measures, basic and advanced health care maintenance.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Position Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Must be a graduate of an Accredited School of Medicine and have completed training internship and residency as required by California Licensure
  • A valid and current California license by the State of California Medical Board
  • Board certified
  • A valid and current DEA
  • Three years of work experience in a medical practice is preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills; and the ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Relate well to people of various social-economic backgrounds.
  • Self-motivated, flexible and a team player.
  • Available to work evening and Saturday clinics.
  • Able to work cooperatively as a member of a health care delivery team.

Status: Per Diem

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $130.00 - $140.00 per hour
