Employment Type: Full-time
Shift Details:
-
Rotational Shifts (5 shifts) covering business and support hours, including early morning, general, evening, and night rotations.
-
Flexibility to swap or adjust shifts per process requirements and SLAs.
About the Role:
We’re looking for a SQL Programmer to support the Financial Shared Services (FSS) process. You will design, optimize, and maintain database objects, build robust queries and procedures, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and reliability of financial data pipelines and reporting. This role is critical to ensuring high-quality data, compliant operations, and continuous performance improvements in a high-availability environment.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Database Development: Design and implement SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, views, triggers, and ETL routines to support FSS use cases (AP/AR, GL, reconciliations, settlements, aging, audit trails).
-
Performance Tuning: Analyze execution plans, refactor queries, optimize indexes/partitions, and resolve bottlenecks to meet SLAs in rotational shift windows.
-
Data Integrity & Governance: Implement validations, constraints, auditing frameworks, and error handling to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial data.
-
ETL & Pipelines: Build and maintain batch/near real-time data ingestion and transformation jobs (SSIS/PL SQL scripts or equivalent), including scheduling, monitoring, and recovery steps.
-
Snowflake Integration: Develop and optimize queries for Snowflake-based data warehouses; ensure efficient data loading and transformation for analytics.
-
AS400 & SAP Data Handling: Work with AS400 and SAP systems to extract, transform, and validate financial data for downstream processes and reporting.
-
Reporting & Analytics Support: Deliver data marts, views, and optimized datasets for BI tools (Power BI/SSRS/Tableau), ensuring semantic consistency.
-
Incident & Production Support: Triage and resolve data/process incidents across shifts; document RCA; drive preventive actions and automation.
-
Documentation & Standards: Maintain technical specs, data dictionaries, SOPs, service runbooks, and adhere to coding/review standards.
-
Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with FSS operations, finance, QA, and platform teams to translate business rules into performant SQL solutions.
-
Compliance & Security: Follow access controls, data privacy guidelines, and audit requirements relevant to FSS operations.
-
Continuous Improvement: Propose and implement automations, reusable components, and best practices to reduce manual effort and improve reliability.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
-
Strong SQL expertise (advanced joins, window functions, CTEs, dynamic SQL, error handling).
-
Hands-on with one or more: T-SQL (MS SQL Server), PL/SQL (Oracle), MySQL/PostgreSQL.
-
Performance tuning experience (indexing, partitioning, statistics, query plan analysis).
-
Experience building and supporting ETL jobs (e.g., SSIS, SQL native scripts, schedulers).
-
Familiarity with financial processes/data in FSS (vendor/customer ledgers, payments, reconciliations).
-
Experience with Snowflake for data warehousing and analytics.
-
Exposure to AS400 and SAP systems for financial data extraction and validation.
-
Experience with production support and incident management in rotational shifts.
-
Proficiency with version control (Git) and ticketing/ITSM tools (Jira/ServiceNow).
-
Strong problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
-
Bachelor’s degree in computer science/IT/Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
Good to Have (Preferred):
-
Exposure to data warehousing concepts (star/snowflake schema, slowly changing dimensions).
-
Experience with BI tools (Power BI, SSRS, Tableau) and building optimized data sources.
-
Knowledge of schedulers (SQL Agent/Control M/Autosys) and job orchestration.
-
Basics of cloud databases (Azure SQL, AWS RDS/Redshift, GCP BigQuery) or Python for data tasks.
-
Experience in audit/compliance frameworks relevant to finance shared services.
-
Familiarity with RCA, observability tools (query store, performance monitors).
