Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Pre- Construction Estimator to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate project cost estimates, analyzing project plans and specifications, and supporting the bidding process for various construction projects. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills and extensive knowledge of NCDOT, municipalities, site concrete, site work, utilities, storm work, heavy civil highway roadway improvements, related infrastructure scopes construction processes, materials, and pricing strategies. Kickoff Clarity Meeting and project hand-off. The Pre- Construction Estimator will collaborate closely with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to ensure competitive and profitable bids while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Duties
- Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, addendums, contract documents to develop comprehensive estimates.
- Utilize estimating software such as Trimble B2W One Platform Estimating and Track and use Agtek Material 4D takeoff software to prepare detailed cost proposals. Efficient with Quick Books Online.
- Conduct quantity take-offs, material pricing, labor cost analysis, and subcontractor quotations.
- Perform risk assessments and incorporate contingencies into estimates to ensure accuracy.
- Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and favorable terms.
- Assist in the development of project budgets, schedules, and cost control measures throughout the project lifecycle.
- Attend pre-bid meeting. Collaborate with project management teams to evaluate project scope changes and update estimates accordingly.
- Support contract negotiations by providing detailed cost analysis and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
- Maintain organized records of all estimating documents for future reference and audits.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in estimating processes and tools.
Experience
- Proven experience in construction estimating within NCDOT, municipalities, commercial and heavy civil projects is preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Trimbe B2W Estime/Track and Agtek Materials 4D, Microsoft Office Suite, Quick Books Online and other relevant estimating software tools.
- Demonstrated ability to perform accurate quantity take-offs and detailed cost analysis.
- Knowledge of construction site operations, safety standards, contracts, and project management principles.
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to secure competitive pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
- 3+ years of prior experience working on construction sites or managing construction projects is a plus.
- Strong understanding of construction management practices, cost control techniques, and project scheduling. Pay: $85,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
