The mission of the Schoolhouse Children’s Museum is to inspire and engage children and families to explore, play, learn and discover through creative, interactive learning opportunities that integrate the arts, humanities and sciences in cultural and historical settings.

The Schoolhouse Children's Museum is seeking a part-time Museum Educator to join our team for the summer season. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with teaching experience who is looking for a unique summer job making a difference in the lives of children.

Responsibilities:

• Teach classes, outreach and field trips as scheduled
• Assist with outreach programs/events outside the Museum setting
• Maintain exhibit floor upkeep and positive visitor interaction
• Assists with special events and fundraisers
• Providing excellent customer service and ensuring a positive visitor experience

Requirements:

• Proven experience leading classes of children and the ability to deliver content in an engaging and interactive manner.
• Ability to follow pre-designed curriculum for in house, outreach and focus field trips as assigned in conjunction with the Program Manager (required)
• Experience creating & implementing lesson plans and curriculum
• Minimum of 2-years experience teaching pre-school age children/ Early education
• Ability to interact positively with children, parents and coworkers
• Availability to work weekends and holidays as needed
• Ability to lift 25 pounds, bend, stretch, and reach to perform necessary functions

The position is part-time and will require a commitment of approximately 20-25 hours per week. Compensation will be $16.50 per hour.
