Core responsibilities
- Lesson planning and delivery: Create and implement Tamil language lesson plans that align with the school's curriculum, covering reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension.
- Student engagement: Use interactive and creative teaching methods to make learning fun and effective for primary-aged children.
- Assessment and feedback: Evaluate student performance through various assessments and provide constructive feedback to support their progress.
- Classroom management: Foster a positive, safe, and motivating learning environment for all students.
- Communication: Maintain open communication with parents and colleagues to discuss student progress and school activities.
- Collaboration: Work with other teachers on cross-curricular activities and participate in school-wide cultural events and competitions.
- Administrative tasks: Maintain classroom records and complete any other administrative duties as assigned by the school administration.
Qualifications and skills
- Education: A Bachelor's degree, often with a B.Ed. is required. Specific qualifications may vary by school.
- Experience: Previous experience in primary teaching or with young children is often preferred.
- Language proficiency: Must be proficient in spoken and written Tamil. Basic English proficiency for classroom communication is also often necessary.
- Interpersonal skills: The ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues is crucial.
- Classroom management: Must have strong skills in managing a classroom of young students.
