Sovo International School is a new-age IB-inspired school where “classroom meets the real world.” We currently offer Playclass to Grade 4 (expanding each year) and combine the IB philosophy with our signature Fifth Gear Model, where students work on real-world projects guided by industry mentors. Our curriculum blends IB with Nordic, Japanese, and Montessori influences to create purposeful, hands-on, inquiry-driven learning.
Role Overview
The PYP Head is the academic driver and learning architect for the Primary Years Programme at Sovo. This role is ideal for someone with strong IB PYP experience, leadership ability, classroom excellence, and exceptional English communication. The PYP Head will ensure the highest standards of teaching, inquiry, assessments, unit design, and teacher training.
Key Responsibilities
1. PYP Curriculum Leadership
- Lead the design, implementation, and continuous refinement of the IB PYP curriculum.
- Coordinate Programme of Inquiry (POI), scope & sequence, transdisciplinary themes, and unit plans.
- Ensure alignment between inquiry learning and Sovo’s real-world project-based Fifth Gear approach.
- Monitor classroom practice to ensure fidelity to PYP philosophy across all grades.
2. Teacher Coaching & Professional Development
- Conduct regular teacher observations, feedback meetings, and one-on-one coaching.
- Organise internal PD cycles, IB-aligned training workshops, and collaborative planning (CPT) sessions.
- Mentor teachers in inquiry strategies, assessments, documentation, and classroom culture.
- Support recruitment and onboarding of new teachers to maintain a strong IB teaching culture.
3. Programme Coordination & IB Compliance
- Maintain alignment with IB Standards & Practices, policies, and documentation requirements.
- Prepare for IB authorisation & evaluation processes.
- Manage evidence, reports, teacher training records, and action plans.
- Facilitate collaboration between grade levels and specialist teachers.
4. Student Learning, Assessment & Support
- Oversee formative & summative assessments, portfolios, reflections, and exhibitions.
- Track student progress and intervene with support strategies where needed.
- Ensure differentiated instruction and inclusion principles are upheld.
- Lead student showcases, exhibitions, assemblies, and learning journeys.
5. Parent Communication & Community Building
- Lead parent orientations, learning sessions, and curriculum workshops.
- Communicate clearly with parents about learning goals, assessments, and student progress.
- Address parent questions and help build trust, transparency, and strong partnerships.
6. Collaboration with School Leadership
- Work closely with the Principal and Founder to drive academic vision.
- Support new initiatives, events, teacher hiring, and quality assurance.
- Contribute to overall school strategy, culture-building, and innovation.
Qualifications
- Minimum 4–6 years of IB PYP teaching experience (mandatory).
- Experience as PYP Coordinator / PYP Team Lead / Academic Coordinator preferred.
- Strong understanding of IB pedagogy, inquiry learning, and progressive education.
- Excellent English communication — verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Bachelor’s/Master’s in Education or related field.
