Procurement and Supply Chain Manager- Growing Scientific Lab Distribution Company

Overview

The Procurement and Supply Chain Manager owns Lab Pro’s end to end supply chain across purchasing, supplier management, demand planning, inventory control, logistics, and ERP processes. This role also leads cross functional projects that impact procurement, operations, finance, and customer experience. You will play a central role in improving margins, ensuring supply continuity, building scalable systems, and supporting new business lines.

Duties and Responsibilities

Planning, Inventory, and MRP

· Perform MRP analysis and place timely purchase orders to support customer demand

· Maintain ETA accuracy and provide proactive communication to internal teams and key accounts

· Evaluate inventory health including aging, excess, and end of life risks
Set and optimize planning parameters including safety stock, reorder points, and lead times

· Inventory Management: Maintain optimal inventory levels through effective stock control and reorder point planning.

· Production Planning: Coordinate with production and operations teams to create efficient production schedules that align with demand forecasts.

Procurement and Supplier Management

  • Source and negotiate with suppliers across chemicals, PPE, cleanroom consumables, tools, and equipment
  • Manage supplier pricing, contracts, quality issues, and delivery performance
  • Maintain supplier scorecards and lead quarterly business reviews
  • Drive cost savings through strategic sourcing, benchmarking, and VA VE initiatives
  • Resolve PO discrepancies, backorders, and service issues with vendors and warehouses

Logistics and Fulfillment

  • Coordinate inbound freight, routing, and consolidation to reduce cost and increase reliability
  • Work with carriers, brokers, and warehouse teams to resolve logistics issues
  • Ensure correct documentation for domestic and international shipments
  • Support tariff classification, landed cost analysis, and trade compliance reviews

Project Management and Cross Functional Execution

  • Lead cross departmental projects including planning, execution, scheduling, and risk management
  • Support system upgrades, process improvements, and integration of new business lines
  • Maintain a bid and RFP pipeline for government and municipal lab contracts
  • Coordinate with operations, warehouse, sales, finance, and IT to meet project milestones
  • Oversee ERP enhancements including purchasing workflows, automation, inventory processes, and reporting

Success Metrics

  • Improved margins through cost savings and smarter procurement
  • Accurate ETAs and fewer customer delivery issues
  • Higher inventory turns and reduced excess or obsolete stock
  • Improved supplier on time delivery and performance metrics
  • Strong project execution with milestones delivered on time
  • Clean ERP data and stronger planning accuracy
  • Increased bid activity and awarded lab supply contracts

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related field
  • 5 + years procurement or supply chain experience in distribution, manufacturing
  • Strong understanding of purchasing, logistics, forecasting, MRP, and vendor management
  • Experience leading cross functional projects with measurable outcomes
  • Project management experience
  • Strong Excel and data analysis skills
  • Experience with ERP platforms
  • Proven negotiation skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and execute with speed and precision
  • Excellent communication, organization, and follow through

Salary

From $75,000 to $100,000 per year depending on experience plus bonus.
