We are looking for an experienced, strategic, and results-driven Procurement/MRO Buyer to manage to manage the critical supplies that keep our high-volume processing facilities running smoothly.

The Role

The Procurement/MRO Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing the purchasing of critical industrial supplies, MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) materials, capital equipment, and services essential for the continuous operation of our recycling facilities. This role requires a sharp negotiator with a strong understanding of industrial supply chains and an acute focus on cost control and supplier reliability

Key Responsibilities

Sourcing & Vendor Management:

· Procure MRO goods and services, including wear parts (e.g., shredder hammer tips, liner plates), hydraulics (hoses, pumps, fittings), lubricants, safety equipment (PPE), filters, welding supplies, and general plant consumables.

· Identify, vet, and qualify new suppliers to ensure a competitive and reliable supply base, specializing in heavy equipment parts (Caterpillar, Liebherr, Sennebogen, etc. knowledge is a plus).

· Manage and maintain strong relationships with critical MRO vendors, negotiating favorable pricing, terms, and service level agreements (SLAs).

Supplier Management & Negotiation:

· Identify and qualify new, reliable suppliers; establish and maintain strong supplier relationships.

· Negotiations on price, delivery, and terms to achieve the best total cost of ownership

· Monitor supplier performance to ensure compliance with quality standards and delivery schedules.

Purchasing & Inventory Control:

· Process purchase requisitions, generate purchase orders (POs) in the ERP system, and track order status to ensure on-time delivery.

· Collaborate closely with maintenance and operations teams to forecast MRO needs, manage inventory levels

· Drive cost-reduction initiatives without compromising quality or operational uptime.

Compliance & Administration:

· Ensure all procured items meet internal quality, safety (OSHA), and environmental standards.

· Resolve supplier issues related to billing, quality discrepancies, or delivery delays.

· Maintain accurate procurement records, contracts, and supplier documentation.

Qualifications

Experience: 5+ years of experience in procurement or purchasing, specifically in an industrial, manufacturing, or heavy machinery environment (metals, mining, aggregate, or similar industries preferred).

MRO Knowledge: Strong technical understanding of MRO categories, including hydraulics, electrical components, welding supplies, heavy equipment parts (e.g., shredders, balers, conveyors), and safety gear.

Skills:

· Proven negotiation skills and the ability to manage complex supplier relationships.

· Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

· Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and/or Google Sheets).

· Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

Attributes: Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment.
