Project Director

JOB PURPOSE:

Lead and oversee the projects to ensure they are executed with excellence in quality, safety, schedule, and commercial performance. Provide strategic direction, operational leadership, and governance to ensure that project outcomes deliver maximum value to the Client and the Company. Maintain and enhance strong relationships with Clients, Consultants, and key stakeholders to safeguard the Company’s reputation and long-term interests.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Set the strategic goals, KPIs, and performance targets for the projects, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, and cascade them to Project Directors and Project Managers.
• Provide executive oversight across multiple projects to ensure operational excellence, cost efficiency, quality performance, and adherence to timelines.
• Lead the development, review, and continuous improvement of operational, technical, commercial, and governance frameworks across the project portfolio.
• Oversee the development, implementation, and periodic revision of all unit policies, procedures, operating manuals, and project controls.
• Ensure full alignment with international and local standards in quality management, safety, environmental stewardship, and risk management.
• Enforce compliance with HSE policies, risk assessments, environmental regulations, and company-wide operational controls.
• Review and validate all project performance reports, progress indicators, cost control updates, and schedule compliance reports to ensure accuracy and actionable insight.
• Provide executive reporting to top management and stakeholders, highlighting risks, progress, variances, and required corrective actions across projects.
• Maintain governance over project documentation, audit requirements, lessons learned, and other records critical for project lifecycle control and organizational learning.
• Direct and support the project teams in operational planning, engineering coordination, procurement strategy, contracts, and commercial execution.
• Ensure timely allocation of required human resources, equipment, and materials based on approved project schedules.
• Lead the evaluation and appointment of key project leadership roles, ensuring strong on-ground management capability.
• Oversee project budgets, cash flow forecasting, cost plans, and financial performance to safeguard project profitability and financial discipline.
• Approve major commercial decisions, including negotiation and issuance of final financial and contractual correspondences.
• Ensure legal completeness and compliance of all project documents, contracts, and agreements.
• Lead the evaluation, prequalification, and selection of key suppliers and subcontractors to ensure quality, competitiveness, and performance.
• Serve as the executive representative of the company before the Client to maintain strong strategic relationships and ensure continued project satisfaction and trust.
• Engage in high-level meetings with clients and stakeholders to understand requirements, resolve escalations, and negotiate project priorities.
• Coordinate cross-departmental efforts to resolve operational obstacles, engineering issues, or commercial challenges impacting project progress.
• Lead the identification, mitigation, and escalation of project risks, including schedule delays, technical challenges, and commercial exposures.
• Oversee major project claims related to time and cost, ensuring proper documentation, negotiation strategy, and contractual alignment.
• Provide direction for resolution of critical operational problems in collaboration with technical, legal, and commercial teams.
• Mentor and develop Project Directors and Project Managers, providing guidance on operational excellence, commercial acumen, and leadership capabilities.
• Conduct periodic performance appraisals for the project management teams, ensuring high performance and succession planning for future leadership roles.
• Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational discipline.

MINIMUN QUALIFICATION & REQUIREMENTS:

Education/ Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering.

Master’s degree is preferable

Work Experience

15 +years of experience in engineering field

Language

Very good English language
