1. Position Summary
The MEP Project Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing works for both conventional building projects and precast building projects. The role involves close coordination with civil, structural, and precast engineering teams to ensure timely delivery of MEP services, compliance with project specifications, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Project Planning & Coordination
- Review project drawings, specifications, and precast shop drawings to identify MEP requirements and constraints.
- Coordinate with civil and precast teams to integrate MEP provisions such as openings, embedded items, conduits, sleeves, and anchor inserts.
- Prepare MEP work schedules aligned with overall project timelines and precast production schedules.
- Participate in design coordination meetings, technical workshops, and site progress meetings.
B. Technical Execution
- Supervise installation, testing, and commissioning of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, ELV, and drainage systems.
- Ensure accurate placement of MEP elements in precast panels, hollow-core slabs, and other precast components.
- Verify compliance with design standards, local regulations, safety codes, and project specifications.
- Review and approve method statements, shop drawings, material submittals, and technical documents.
C. Quality Control & Inspection
- Conduct site inspections for MEP installations in both cast-in-situ and precast structures.
- Ensure quality control procedures are implemented for factory-produced precast MEP provisions.
- Identify non-conformities and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Coordinate with QA/QC team for inspections, testing, and documentation.
D. Stakeholder Management
- Communicate effectively with consultants, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Resolve site issues related to MEP and precast integration.
- Coordinate crane operations, lifting plans, and installation sequences for MEP-heavy precast components.
E. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all MEP activities comply with project HSE plans and statutory regulations.
- Prepare risk assessments for MEP works and ensure safety measures are in place for precast installations.
- Support toolbox talks related to MEP and crane operations.
F. Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare daily/weekly progress reports, inspection requests, NCRs, and technical logs.
- Maintain documentation for testing, commissioning, and handover.
- Track material procurement and delivery for MEP and precast-related items.
3. Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering (or equivalent).
- 5–10 years of experience in MEP engineering with at least 2–3 years in precast building projects.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Experience with precast coordination, BIM models, MEP/shop drawings, and installation sequencing.
- Familiarity with ASHRAE, NEC, NFPA, IPC, and local building codes.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit/BIM, MS Office, and project scheduling tools.
