Z.M.K. & Co. invites applications for the position of Psychologist for UNDP Pakistan’s “Rights-Based Community Stabilization Project” in District Khyber.

Background

UNDP’s Rights-Based Community Stabilization Project works to support disengagement and reintegration of vulnerable youth through community-based psychosocial services, skills development, and awareness initiatives. The project strengthens local structures by engaging academia, teachers, community leaders, and religious notables, while delivering tailored interventions to build resilience, promote tolerance, and improve opportunities for at-risk individuals. Psychosocial support is a core component, contributing directly to stability and rehabilitation in the target districts.

Purpose

To lead and deliver psychosocial support services, including assessments, counseling, case management, referrals, and group sessions. The Psychologist will conduct psychometric evaluations, provide MHPSS support, mentor project staff, ensure protection protocols, and contribute to improving community resilience and well-being.

Job Description (Key Responsibilities)

  • Conduct psychological and psychometric assessments of referred individuals.

  • Deliver individual and group counseling sessions for youth, women, and vulnerable groups.

  • Guide assistant psychologists in developing treatment and rehabilitation plans.

  • Maintain confidential case files and ensure timely follow-up.

  • Establish and support referral pathways with hospitals and mental health institutions.

  • Facilitate psychoeducation sessions, support groups, workshops, and awareness activities.

  • Train community mobilizers, social workers, and gender desk officers on basic psychosocial support and Psychological First Aid.

  • Develop culturally appropriate psychosocial awareness materials.

  • Document all activities and prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports.

  • Provide technical advice to the PMU and Social Welfare Department on psychosocial trends.

  • Ensure compliance with confidentiality, ethical standards, and safeguarding protocols.

Eligibility Criteria

Education

  • Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or Applied Psychology from an HEC-recognized institution.

  • Additional training in trauma-informed care, CBT, Psychological First Aid, or other structured psychosocial interventions is an asset.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), including:

    • Individual and group counseling

    • Psychometric assessments

    • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) – certified

    • Work with vulnerable and at-risk individuals

  • Experience as a master trainer in therapeutic techniques, risk assessment tools, and psychometric analysis.

  • Strong reporting and communication experience for MHPSS interventions.

  • Prior experience working in the merged districts is a significant advantage.

  • Demonstrated experience in integrating gender-sensitive approaches.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong counseling, therapeutic communication, and case management skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure with resilience and cultural sensitivity.

  • Fluency in Pashto and Urdu; strong interpersonal and team collaboration skills.

  • High standards of confidentiality and ethics.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and ability to maintain digital case records.
