Erie Family Health Centers, a top workplace in Chicago and suburbs, is looking for a valuable addition to our Behavioral Health Team! Psychiatrists diagnose, treat and help prevent psychiatric disorders in a community health center setting. Prescribe and monitor medication. Collaborate with medical providers and Behavioral Health team. Provide continuity of care to each patient.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat psychiatric disorders.
  • Collaborate with physicians, psychologists, social workers, psychiatric advance practice registered nurses, or other professionals to discuss treatment plans and progress.
  • Document treatment and consultation.
  • Consult with medical team and BH team.
  • Be responsible for supervising and mentoring residents regarding psychiatric diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mental disorders.
  • Analyze and evaluate patient data and test or examination findings to diagnose nature and extent of psychiatric disorders and evaluate for co-existing or contributing medical conditions.
  • Prescribe, direct, and administer medications to treat psychiatric, emotional, or behavioral disorders.
  • Gather and maintain patient information and records, including social and medical history obtained from patients, relatives, and other professionals.
  • Performs assessment of new clients and updates returning clients.
  • Manages and monitors med compliance.
  • Provides supervision and instruction to residents.
  • Keeps records as required.
  • Documents all patient care activities.
  • Participates as member of interdisciplinary health care team.
  • Maintains at least minimum CME certificates as required by American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
  • Adheres to all Erie Family Health Center policies & procedures.

Education

  • Licensed physician in the state of Illinois

Skills and Knowledge

  • At least 3 years of experience in community health or with a similar patient population while in training is preferred.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine, MD or DO.
  • Proficiency in medical Spanish preferred.

COVID-19 vaccine documentation is required for all employees.
