This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Spartanburg Area Mental Health Center, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
The Office of Mental Health’s mission is to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses. We provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.
As a member of the treatment team, you will interview, diagnose and prescribe care and treatment of the psychiatric patients. Prescribe medication, psychotherapy and provide evaluation of patients and consultation to other medical and non-medical staff, confer with and advise medical doctors, agency representatives, staff members in the care and treatment of the psychiatric patient. Under general supervision, you will exercise medical responsibility to identified patients and duties with both adult and child populations. Assist with the Center's overall analysis of broad problems and planning interrelated activities. Provide services in a culturally sensitive manner.

See assigned patients, including adults, children and adolescents, provides psychiatric evaluation of patients, prescribe medication where indicated, offer consultation regarding the care and treatment of patients. Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local Corporate Compliance, laws.

Assign and coordinate student rotations at the Center according to provider availability. Prepare required documents (calendars, schedules, and other correspondence) for distribution. Serve as a liaison with contracted school(s) for students. Manage the evaluate process of the program. Update the Medical Director annually and when necessary.

Compile with all application Quality Assurance, Corporate Compliance, and Cultural Competency policies, procedures, regulations, and all federal and state laws, as well as attend training classified as mandatory by federal and state regulations. Engage in additional training to maintain professional development.

Provide consultation for clinical staff and supervise staff in the medical aspect of treatment when needed.
Post hire, employee must:

Successfully complete the Basic Fundamentals course with a minimum grade of 75.

Be able to pass CPR and Managing Agitation in the Psychiatric Setting (MAPS) Certification.

Be licensed to practice medicine in South Carolina.
