JOB SUMMARY:

Performs various manual labor tasks and duties to assist department workers in completing Fleet
Maintenance and Public Works projects.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (All responsibilities may not be performed by all incumbents.)

Cuts grass and uses a weed eater to trim lawns; lubricates weed eater as needed; cleans areas after
cutting.

Lubricates, changes oil and performs minor repairs and maintenance on County Equipment.

Hauls dirt, gravel, asphalt, trash, and pipes to sites; checks the truck each morning before beginning
operations.

Cleans out ditches; removes debris, trash and excess dirt as needed; picks up trash, leafs, and tree limbs
from wooded areas and from the sides of the road.

Rides in trucks and empties garbage containers and picks up loose trash and debris in area.

Picks up miscellaneous household materials such as furniture, refrigerators, toys, engines, tree limbs and
roots, etc. and places in truck.

Assists truck driver in maintaining truck after completion of route; checks oil and changes, refuels,
greases parts as necessary, washes and cleans truck.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

All candidates to fill a vacant position in this classification must submit to and pass a drug screening test
after meeting the following minimum requirements:

Education and Experience:

Ability to read and write.

No Experience Required.

Licenses and Certifications:

Valid State Driver’s License.

Perform strenuous and routine work.

Receive and follow instructions.

Hearing ability sufficient to recognize changes in sounds made by machinery, equipment, or motors.

Vision ability to see shapes and outlines of objects both near and at a distance; depth perception required.

While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to walk outdoors,
climb ladders, excavations, stairs, and vehicles; sit in vehicle, reach with hands and arms, stoop, stretch,
crawl, and crouch.

While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is not regularly required to move or lift up
to 100 pounds.

Working Conditions:

While performing the essential functions of this position the employee is regularly exposed to weather
conditions, especially cold and hot temperatures, humidity, rain, and sun. Also exposed to airborne
irritants, fumes, dust, gases, noxious odors, vibrations, electrical shock, and moving and/or mechanical
parts.

The incumbent's working conditions are typically very loud.
