The Bryan County Board Commissioners are now accepting applications for a Full Time Public Works Operating Foreman in our Public Works Department.

This position is to oversee the daily operation of work crews in the construction and repair of County roadways.

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Supervises, directs work, processes employee concerns and problems, provides oral counseling when necessary, and recommends disciplinary action to Public Works Superintendent.

Supervises crews engage in road maintenance and repair projects.

Monitors progress of operations to ensure work is completed safely, promptly and correctly.

Lays out right-of-ways on new road and parking lot construction projects; sets grades for roads, ditches, parking lots and culverts.

Assists work crews and operates heavy equipment and mosquito control equipment when required.

Erects road signs and traffic control barriers around work sites when necessary, notifies Public Works Superintendent when road signs are missing and need replacement, replaces road signs when directed.

Inspects bridges and culverts for any possible obstruction and for overall safety.

Punctuality and attendance are essential.

May remove road kill from roadways.

Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or GED required; five years of experience in road construction and maintenance, or a related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Supervisory experience preferred. Must have a valid driver's license.
