Job Title: Quality Control Lab Coordinator
Reports To: Quality Control Lab Supervisor
Position Summary:
The Quality Control Lab Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring the quality, consistency, and performance of Summit Seed Coatings’ products. This position is responsible for conducting laboratory testing, maintaining accurate records, monitoring production samples and scheduling, and ensuring compliance with company and industry standards. In addition, the QC Lab Coordinator will assist in responding to customer inquiries regarding product quality and performance, providing technical support to strengthen customer confidence and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure they meet quality specifications.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and company policies with accuracy and consistency.
- Carefully follow verbal and written directions from the QC Lab Manager while exercising independent judgment when necessary.
- Record, analyze, and report test results accurately, maintaining detailed laboratory documentation.
- Monitor production processes to identify potential quality issues and effectively perform necessary duties to resolve problems and maintain product quality.
- Troubleshoot and resolve laboratory, data, and process issues, escalating concerns as appropriate.
- Serve as a technical point of contact for customers, answering phones and responding to inquiries regarding product quality, specifications, and performance in a professional and timely manner.
- Maintain accurate records of product inventory, including raw materials, in-process, and finished goods.
- Coordinate the schedules of plant production to ensure timely workflow and efficient operations.
- Support the QC Lab Manager in developing, updating, and enforcing quality control procedures and protocols.
- Act as backup to the QC Lab Manager during absences, ensuring continuity of laboratory operations, production oversight, and customer support.
- Participate in problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, laboratory efficiency, and operational effectiveness.
- Calibrate, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Collect and prepare samples for testing, following safety standards and procedural requirements.
- Maintain compliance with all company, regulatory, and safety policies.
Qualifications:
- Previous quality control or laboratory experience preferred (seed or agricultural industry experience a plus).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
- Ability to follow directions, read and interpret SOPs and technical documents, and apply them accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Experience with Adobe and other technical software skills is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with laboratory software or data systems a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proactive problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions when appropriate.
- Ability to provide leadership and guidance in the absence of the QC Lab Manager.
Physical & Behavioral Expectations:
- Ability to stand, walk, and work in a laboratory and production environment for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move materials or equipment (up to 50 lbs) as required.
- Manual dexterity and visual acuity to handle small seeds, samples, and laboratory instruments.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
- Professional and respectful communication style with both team members and customers.
- Willingness to follow directions, seek clarification when needed, and take initiative to improve processes.
