Job Title: Quantity Surveyor Engineer


Department: Engineering/Projects


Location: Karachi, Pakistan


Job Summary:

The Quantity Surveyor Engineer is responsible for managing all aspects of contractual and financial control on construction projects. The role involves cost estimation, tender preparation, contract administration, and ensuring that the project is delivered within budget while maintaining quality and compliance with specifications.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates , BOQs , and tender documents based on project drawings and specifications.
  • Conduct cost analysis , value engineering , and feasibility studies for proposed projects.
  • Manage interim valuations , payment certifications , and variation orders .
  • Evaluate contractor and supplier quotations , ensuring alignment with project scope and technical requirements.
  • Maintain and update cost control systems and project budgets throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assist in procurement , bid evaluation , and contract negotiation .
  • Prepare monthly cost reports , cash flow forecasts , and financial statements for management review.
  • Review and verify progress claims , subcontractor bills , and final accounts .
  • Ensure compliance with contractual terms , project specifications , and HSE standards .
  • Coordinate with the engineering , procurement , and site teams to resolve project-related commercial issues.


Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying , Civil Engineering , or a related field.
  • Minimum 6-10 years of experience in quantity surveying within the construction industry .
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts (FIDIC or equivalent) and project costing methodologies .
  • Proficiency in MS Excel , AutoCAD , and quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, Candy, or similar).
  • Excellent analytical , numerical , and negotiation skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Membership or certification with a recognized body (e.g., RICS , PQS , or IQS ) is an advantage.
