Position Overview

Sansin America is seeking a Lab Tech with a passion for wood to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of essential technical support and contributing to the accuracy and efficiency of the team.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities

• Learn and perform lab procedures, data analysis, and timely reporting of results
• Prepare formulations, materials, specimens, and conduct testing as per specifications.
• Evaluate raw materials and processes to ensure stability and compatibility
• Ensure all tests are completed and results meet all specifications
• Enter all inventory and batch data into the record system
• Adhere to all laboratory safety guidelines and procedures, including handling potentially hazardous substances.
• Test, identify and address non-conforming material according to specifications
• Create, maintain, and update standard operating procedures for Quality Control and Assurance
• Uphold the highest levels of confidentiality to protect confidential and proprietary information

Required Skills and Experience

• 2 years of lab experience in water-based coating formulation and applications.
• Open-minded, creative, and innovative with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Deep understanding of color theory, color systems and familiarity with color matching theory and instrumentation
• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Understanding the practical aspects of laboratory & equipment safety – familiar with proper PPE, safety protocols, etc
• Ability to keep all trade secrets, patents, and proprietary information in the strictest confidence

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or another related field (Chemical Engineer, Material Science) preferred, but will consider a combination of education and direct coatings industry experience.

Working Conditions

• Reliable form of transportation to get to and from work is a must
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
• Some travel required to offsite test fields
• Flexible and available to work extra hours if required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
