Position Summary
The Research Technician will study lung inflammation in acute and chronic lung diseases and perform studies in in vivo studies of mice and in vitro studies using cell cultures.

Utilizing the fundamental components of molecular, biochemical, and cell biology concepts and physiological in vivo experimentation, this position will include a wide range of lab procedures/duties including but not limited to:
1) Basic molecular biology techniques such as isolation and purification of DNA/RNA, mouse genotyping and real time PCR,
2) Maintenance of mouse colonies,
3) Flow cytometry,
4) Ordering lab supplies.

Work will include studies of mouse models of lung disease. Under direct supervision, this position will be involved in planning, executing, recording, and analyzing research experiments in a collaborative work environment.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Required Qualifications Include:
  • Basic understanding of fundamental molecular, cell biological and physiological concepts, maintenance of mouse colonies, in vivo experimentation, and processing of tissue, cells and fluids.
  • Familiarity with mouse handling and breeding.
  • Familiarity with basic computer applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, GraphPad.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and multitask.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Preferred Qualifications Include:
  • Familiarity with and capability of performing a wide range of lab procedures/duties including but not limited to: 1) basic molecular biology techniques such as isolation and purification of DNA/RNA, real time PCR, mouse genotyping, 2) maintenance of mouse colonies, 3) in vivo experimentation, and 4) ELISA and other assays.
  • Laboratory experience demonstrating possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
