The University of Arizona's Chemistry & Biochemistry - Science invites you to apply to the role of Research Technician II. This is a part time, temporary position that will work in the Brown group carrying out daily experiments using UV-Visible spectrophotometry to study visual rhodopsin following detailed protocols. The role involves performing routine protein purifications and preparing samples through dialysis. Basic biochemical assays will be conducted to characterize rhodopsin and verify sample quality.

Duties & Responsibilities
Individual will be expected to:

Carry out protein purifications.
- Sets up and performs a variety of lab operations.
- Dialysis experiments for sample preparation. Also responsible for cleaning, sterilizing, operating and maintaining instruments and machinery used in research.

Characterization of lipid effects on rhodopsin using UV-Visible Spectrophotometry

Characterization of hydration effects on rhodopsin using UV-Visible Spectrophotometry

Successful candidate will have general knowledge of biochemistry to include protein purification and biochemical assays.

Experience with spectrophotometry, pH measurements, and ultracentrifugation needed.

Notice of Availability of the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report
In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University’s campuses.
