Responsible for the overall building and facilities maintenance, ensuring reliability, performance, and cost-effectiveness. This role leads a team of maintenance technicians and third party service providers, manages preventive maintenance routines, vendor AMCs, spare part inventory, equipment performance analysis, safety compliance, and 5S housekeeping.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Maintain and troubleshoot conveyors, PLC, SCADA, HMI, VFDs, field sensors, and other material handling systems.
- Develop and apply preventive maintenance routines on all equipment.
- Develop and implement vendor AMCs with appropriate service levels.
- Coordinate material purchasing with the Procurement Team.
- Identify critical spare parts and maintain stock levels.
- Provide feedback and analysis on equipment performance and availability.
- Manage day to day equipment issues with Operations, prioritize work, and organize work schedules.
- Provide immediate technical guidance to Operations during critical events.
- Lead and train staff to ensure high service levels.
- Maintain a safe working environment in line with Amazon Safety Policy.
- Ensure site housekeeping meets 5S standards.
- Support the Engineering team for installation of new equipment.
A Day in the Life
- Oversee building and facilities maintenance (Reliability, Performance, Cost).
- Manage equipment maintenance for trolleys, conveyors, workstations, labeling machines, PLC control systems, and electrical systems.
- Lead a team of third party technicians.
- Develop preventive maintenance routines and vendor AMCs.
- Coordinate material purchasing and spare part inventory.
- Analyze equipment performance data.
- Collaborate with Operations to prioritize and organize work.
- Maintain safety and 5S standards.
- Provide leadership across teams and develop creative solutions.
- Offer technical guidance during critical events.
About the team: Amazon is building a customer centric fulfillment and sort center that requires exceptionally talented professionals. The Facilities Manager will manage fulfillment center/sort center operations, facilities planning, and third party maintenance service providers.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Electronics/Controls Engineering or a diploma holder (engineer preferred) with equivalent experience.
- Significant experience in a similar role within a fast paced industrial, logistics, or manufacturing environment.
- Results oriented approach with strong analytical, team leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision in a cross functional organization.
- Electrical and mechanical background; experience in installation, commissioning, and operation of electrical distribution systems, HVAC, fire alarm and suppression systems, building MEP systems, and material handling equipment.
- Subcontractor management experience ensuring quality of work.
- Strong troubleshooting, fault finding, and repair skills.
- Ability to read technical drawings and manuals.
- Prior supervisory experience managing a team.
- Computer skills: MS Office required; CMMS and AutoCAD preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- BE or Diploma (Electrical/Electronics) with more than 8 years in warehousing or manufacturing maintenance, conveyors, utilities, and buildings, plus hands on automation & controls knowledge.
