We are looking for a Safety Officer who is responsible for promoting a safe and healthy work environment by enforcing safety policies, conducting inspections, identifying hazards, and ensuring compliance with local regulations and company standards. This role plays a key part in preventing accidents, responding to incidents, and supporting continuous improvement in workplace safety.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain workplace safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits.
- Identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, legal requirements, and company policies.
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety training sessions, and awareness programs for staff.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses; prepare detailed reports.
- Maintain accurate safety documentation, reports, and records.
- Monitor use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure proper availability.
- Coordinate emergency drills, evacuation procedures, and first aid response.
- Assist in developing safe work method statements (SWMS) and job safety analyses (JSA).
- Work closely with supervisors, engineers, and management to improve site safety.
- Promote a strong safety culture across the organization.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field.
- NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, or equivalent safety certification (preferred or required depending on industry).
- Proven experience as a Safety Officer in construction, industrial, or commercial environments.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations, hazard control, and incident investigation.
- Excellent communication, training, and reporting skills.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
- Ability to work in high-risk environments and respond quickly to emergencies.
