JD – Sales Assistant

Location: Boutique Shop, Fort Kochi
Reports To: Manager / Boutique Owner

1. Position Overview

The Sales Personnel is responsible for delivering excellent customer service, achieving sales targets, maintaining store standards, and promoting the boutique’s unique products to customers, with a focus on hospitality and personal interaction suitable for a tourist destination like Fort Kochi.

2. Key Responsibilities

Customer Service & Sales

  • Greet customers warmly and assist them in identifying suitable products.
  • Provide detailed information on product features, materials, pricing, and care instructions.
  • Understand customer preferences and recommend products accordingly.
  • Achieve individual and store-level sales targets.
  • Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and returns professionally.

Store Operations

  • Ensure the store is clean, organized, and visually appealing at all times.
  • Assist in daily opening and closing procedures.
  • Refill stock on display and maintain accurate inventory levels.
  • Monitor stock movement and report shortages or fast-moving items.

Billing & Cash Handling

  • Operate billing software.
  • Manage cash and card transactions accurately.
  • Issue receipts, packaging, and ensure proper documentation.

Product Knowledge

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all products, especially handcrafted, ethnic, or designer items.
  • Communicate product stories to enhance customer engagement (important for tourist clientele).

Customer Relationship Management

  • Build rapport with repeat customers and tourists.
  • Collect customer details for promotions
  • Provide after-sales support for product care or queries.

Brand Representation

  • Maintain professional grooming and follow the boutique’s dress code.
  • Uphold brand values and ensure a welcoming, cultured shopping environment, reflecting Fort Kochi’s heritage charm.

3. Qualifications & Skills Required

Education & Experience

  • Minimum +2 / Diploma (Graduate preferred).
  • 1–2 years’ experience in retail sales (boutique/handicraft/fashion store experience is an added advantage).
  • Freshers with excellent communication skills may also apply.

Skills

  • Excellent communication in English and Malayalam (additional languages like Hindi/Tamil appreciated).
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Good interpersonal and selling skills.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and billing systems.
  • Attention to detail and neat appearance.

4. Working Conditions

  • Location: Fort Kochi boutique.
  • Work shifts as per store timings (including weekends and holidays during tourist season).
