- Supervision: Directly supervise and manage the team of scaffolders and laborers, ensuring work is carried out efficiently and in accordance with the approved method statements and drawings.
- Material Control: Manage and verify the inventory of scaffolding materials (tubes, fittings, boards, safety nets), ensuring adequate supplies and rejecting damaged or non-compliant components.
- Compliance: Ensure all scaffolding design, construction, access, and loading platforms comply with international standards (e.g., BS EN, OSHA) and local UAE regulations.
- Coordination: Coordinate with various site disciplines (Façade, MEP, Civil) to understand their access requirements and adjust the scaffolding schedule accordingly.
2. Inspection, QA/QC & Certification
- Daily Inspection: Conduct thorough pre-use and daily inspections of all erected scaffolding structures, ensuring integrity, stability, proper tying/anchoring, and safe deck boarding.
- Tagging System: Implement and strictly manage the green/yellow/red tag system, ensuring that only certified and safe scaffolds are tagged for use and that immediate actions are taken for red-tagged structures.
- Handover Documentation: Sign off on scaffolding inspection forms and official handover documentation before structures are put into use, ensuring compliance records are meticulously maintained.
- Design Verification: Review scaffolding design plans and calculations to ensure they meet the specific load and height requirements of the project.
3. Safety, Training & Documentation
- HSE Collaboration: Work closely with the HSE team to enforce safety rules, conduct safety training specific to scaffolding work, and ensure all team members use appropriate PPE, including fall arrest equipment.
- Safe Work Practices: Ensure safe work practices are followed during erection and dismantling, particularly concerning dropped object prevention, working near overhead lines, and adverse weather conditions.
- Accident Prevention: Proactively identify potential hazards related to scaffolding and implement immediate preventative measures.
