Senior Accounting Manager

Overview:We are a growing general contracting firm in San Jose, CA, seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant Clerk to join our team in person. This is a critical role that will oversee financial operations and support strategic planning and decision-making.The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction finance, proficiency with Quickbooks, and a hands-on approach to managing day-to-day accounting functions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage full-cycle accounting, including AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger.
• Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Handle cash flow management and forecasting to support business operations.
• Maintain and improve financial controls, policies, and procedures.
• Oversee job costing, WIP reports, and project billing specific to the construction industry.
• Collaborate with project managers and senior leadership to provide financial insight.
• Lead and monitor budgeting processes and variance analysis.
• Manage payroll processing and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Coordinate with external CPA and auditors for annual reviews or audits.
• Utilize and maintain data integrity across QuickBooks, Buildertrend, and Smartsheet

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as an Accountant Clerk or Senior Accountant, preferably in the construction industry.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks, Buildertrend, and Smartsheet is ideal.
• Strong understanding of job costing, construction billing, and financial reporting.
• Knowledge of GAAP; experience with public accounting or SOX compliance is a plus.
• Solid foundation in double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and reconciliations.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• Must be comfortable working on-site in our San Jose office.
