Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation and Review of Financial Statements
- Prepare or review:
- Statement of Financial Position (Balance Sheet)
- Statement of Profit or Loss and Other Comprehensive Income
- Statement of Changes in Equity
- Statement of Cash Flows
- Ensure statements are prepared in accordance with IFRS.
- IFRS Compliance
- Apply relevant IFRS standards accurately, such as:
- IFRS 15 – Revenue from Contracts with Customers
- IFRS 16 – Leases
- IFRS 9 – Financial Instruments
- IAS 1 – Presentation of Financial Statements
- IAS 2 – Inventories, etc.
- Ensure disclosures meet IFRS reporting requirements.
- Audit and Verification
- Review financial records and supporting documentation to confirm accuracy.
- Verify reconciliations of accounts (bank, intercompany, etc.).
- Ensure accounting adjustments, accruals, and provisions are correctly applied.
- Tax Compliance and FIRS Considerations (Nigeria-specific)
- Ensure adjustments required for tax reporting are included.
- Collaborate with tax teams to meet FIRS reporting standards.
- Internal Controls and Risk Assessment
- Assess the effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting.
- Identify areas of risk or potential misstatement and recommend corrective actions.
- Mentoring and Supervision
- Guide junior auditors or accountants in FS preparation.
- Review their work for accuracy and IFRS compliance.
