Job Requirements
About the Role
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Data Engineer with 7–10 years of experience to lead the architecture, development, and optimization of our AWS-native cloud data platform powered by Snowflake and Power BI. You will own scalable data pipelines, cost-efficient warehousing, and enterprise-grade analytics solutions that drive strategic decisions.
Work Experience
Key Responsibilities
-
Design and build robust, automated data pipelines in Snowflake using Snowpipe, Streams, Tasks, Snowflake Data Sharing, and Python.
-
Implement and performance-tune dimensional models (star/snowflake schemas) optimized for both Snowflake and Power BI consumption.
-
Develop advanced Power BI solutions: composite models (Import + DirectQuery), complex DAX, calculation groups, row-level security (RLS), paginated reports, and deployment pipelines.
-
Optimize Snowflake performance and cost (query tuning, clustering keys, materialized views, search optimization service, warehouse autoscaling, resource monitors).
-
Secure the platform using Snowflake RBAC, dynamic data masking, column-level security, and object tagging.
-
Lead migration of legacy data warehouses (Redshift, on-prem, etc.) to Snowflake on AWS.
-
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions / AWS CodePipeline / dbt Cloud for Snowflake and Power BI artifacts.
Integrate AWS services seamlessly: S3- Snowpipe (auto-ingest), AWS Glue / Lambda / Step Functions for orchestration, IAM & Lake Formation governance where needed.
-
Collaborate with analysts, product managers, and leadership to deliver self-service analytics.
-
Mentor engineers and own architecture reviews.
Required Qualifications & Skills
-
7–10 years of hands-on data engineering / BI engineering experience.
-
4+ years deep expertise with Snowflake on AWS (SnowSQL, Snowsight, Time Travel, Zero-Copy Cloning, Fail-safe, etc.).
-
4+ years building enterprise Power BI solutions (Power BI Service, Premium Per User / Capacity, On-premises Data Gateway on AWS EC2 when needed).
-
Expert-level SQL and ability to write highly optimized Snowflake queries.
-
Advanced DAX mastery (time intelligence, context transition, variables, calculation groups).
-
Proficiency in Python (or Java/Scala) for data engineering tasks.
-
Real-world experience using AWS services: S3, Glue Crawlers, Lambda, EventBridge, Step Functions, IAM roles/policies, KMS encryption.
-
Proven track record of leading large-scale migrations to Snowflake (especially from Redshift or on-prem).
-
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Nice to Have
-
Snowflake SnowPro Core + Advanced Architect certification
-
Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate or Fabric Analytics Engineer
-
Experience with AWS QuickSight (as a complement, not replacement)
-
Knowledge of Redshift-to-Snowflake migration patterns and tools (e.g., AWS SCT, DMS)
-
Familiarity with semantic layers (Power BI datasets, Atlan, Sigma)
