Senior Director – Investment Banking Egypt

Job Purpose

• To lead all origination efforts on Investment Banking transactions in Egypt and all investment banking activities of the Bank.
• To broaden the scope of Mashreq's investment banking activities in Egypt, including leading deals with Mashreq as MLA and Bookruner, ESG/Sustainability Coordinator, acquisition finance, structured finance as well as DCM & Advisory mandates
• Distribution support for specific deals with Egyptian banks
• As part of the IB team, explore opportunities and aid transaction structuring and closure in targeted new markets in the region

Key Result Areas

• Proactively solicit, pitch, negotiate & make a case for arranging and underwriting risk, and manage the closure of structured/syndicated capital raising transactions.
• Coordinate all efforts regarding the execution of corporate banking & corporate finance mandates in Egypt (from pitching for mandate to execution of finance documents) to ensure that the desired objectives are achieved with internal and external counter-parties.
• Build and manage an active pipeline for all Investment Banking transactions in Egypt and all Investment Banking deals for the Bank.
• Spearhead the Investment Banking related ESG initiatives in Egypt.
• Strict adherence to client timelines & requirements.
• Pitch in, wherever necessary, as part of the larger IB platform, on deals being pursued centrally.

Operating Environment, Framework and Boundaries, Working Relationships

• The position is based in Mashreq Cairo to ensure proactive Investment Banking coverage is provided to the Bank’s corporate banking clients from Egypt.
• Required to operate in a dynamic environment, with competition coming in from international financial institutions and big regional banks.
• The job holder must be fully aware of the lending policies and guidelines set out in the Bank’s credit policy manual. The candidate should also be affluent with primary activities related to Investment Banking to build a healthy pipeline based on well-identified opportunities with a high probability of conversion. In order to achieve that, the candidate will do all the necessary coordination activities, from arranging client meetings to executing actual deals at hand.
• He/She shall liaise with his/her superiors and peers, both inside the Investment Banking team and outside, with credit risk managers and relationship managers on the origination team. In this regard, He / She will do all the necessary liaison activities between Egypt team and Investment Banking team based in Dubai.
• The job holder will report to the Senior Director-IB with dotted line reporting to Head of Corporate Banking Egypt.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• 10 years or more experience in a corporate finance/investment banking platform or similar roles with exposure to multi-bank structured transactions in an origination/execution role.
• The candidate should have strong multi-product corporate finance with exposure to syndicated loan transactions and acquisition financing structures and have the experience or knowledge of an equity advisory function.
• Advanced quantitative skills with in-depth knowledge of valuation methodologies and well-developed presentation skills.
• A good communicator with a relationship development bent of mind and the ability to multi-task while being an effective team-player.
• Ideally a graduate from one of the leading schools in the region, having worked with leading regional financial institutions in equity and debt markets, including commercial and investment banks with strong command over English language.
