Senior Highway Design Engineer

Abu Dhabi, UAE

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Senior Highway Design Engineer to join our team! In this role you will get to develop and/or supervises the creation of engineering products that meet customer quality requirements.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Independently develops and/or supervises the creation of engineering products that meet customer quality requirements. This includes defining the problem, establishing the work scope, preparing the budget and schedule, planning the work, providing technical direction, and reporting the work status.

• Typical products may include detailed calculations, drawings, procurement documents, design and installation packages, proposal evaluations, technical reports, and detailed analyses.

• Provides support for other engineering activities as required.

• May supervise one or more subordinates and provide input regarding performance.

• May be assigned to a project or organizational team, or as a lead engineer for a specific discipline on a small to intermediate size project.

• Provides input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lowerlevel Engineers working on the same project.

• Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering from a recognized University.

• Minimum 10+ years experience in highway design with thorough knowledge of Highway Design Software.

• Highly preferred to have experience in Abu Dhabi/UAE.

• Excellent command of Auto CAD and Civil 3D.

• Ability to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports, etc. and any project specific engineering and construction relevant software.

• Good written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with project team.

• Ability to guide and motivate and train junior engineers within the team.

• Must be able to attend in-person interviews in Abu Dhabi.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

• Technical Expertise: Proficiency in highway design, including geometric design, pavement design, drainage, and traffic engineering. Familiarity with relevant standards such as DMRB (Design Manual for Roads and Bridges) or AASHTO.

• Software Proficiency: Competence in design and modeling software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Infraworks.

• Project Management: Ability to manage large-scale projects, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and coordinating multidisciplinary teams. Experience in delivering projects on time and within budget.

• Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent communication skills to collaborate with clients, government agencies, contractors, and other stakeholders, ensuring smooth project delivery.

• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address design challenges, construction issues, or regulatory requirements.

• Leadership and Mentoring: Experience leading teams, providing guidance, and mentoring junior engineers, ensuring high standards of work and professional growth.

• Knowledge of Sustainability Practices: Awareness of sustainable construction practices and the ability to incorporate environmental considerations into highway designs.

• Health and Safety Awareness: In-depth knowledge of health and safety standards related to construction and infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance and minimizing risks.

• Regulatory and Contractual Knowledge: Familiarity with local and international regulations, contract administration, and procurement processes for highway projects.

• Adaptability and Innovation: Ability to adapt to new technologies, methods, and industry trends, continuously seeking innovative solutions to improve project outcomes.
