Senior Industrial Designer

Job Summary:

The Senior Industrial Designer leads the creative development of core products while shaping upstream product strategy for new categories. This role partners closely with R&D, Product Management, Engineering, and Marketing to create innovative, user-centered products and to expand the company’s portfolio into new strategic spaces. It combines hands-on industrial design leadership with market-driven concept exploration.

Key Responsibilities:

Industrial Design Excellence

• Lead concept creation, design development, and iterative refinement for core product categories.
• Establish and maintain a cohesive design language, materials strategy, and CMF (color, materials, finishes) guidelines.
• Drive design intent from early sketches through production, collaborating closely with engineering, marketing, and manufacturing teams.
• Conduct user research and usability testing to inform decisions and validate product direction.
• Build compelling presentations and deliver persuasive storytelling to executives, stakeholders, and customers.
• Oversee prototyping efforts and guide model makers to ensure accurate realization of design vision.
• Create high-quality sketches, renderings, CAD models, and prototypes demonstrating strong aesthetic and technical proficiency.
• All other tasks, projects and responsibilities as assigned

New Category & Upstream Strategy

• Identify and develop new product category opportunities through market research, consumer insights, and trend analysis.
• Develop early product concepts and validate them through user interviews, prototyping, and pilot testing.
• Partner with the CPO and cross-functional leaders to translate whitespace insights into viable product directions.
• Act as a cross-functional integrator, ensuring strategic alignment between design, product management, R&D, engineering, and commercial teams.
• Contribute to initial business cases for new product categories by evaluating feasibility, desirability, and differentiation.
• All other tasks, projects and responsibilities as assigned

Estimated Time Allocation:

• 80% — Industrial Design: Lead design for core product lines and support extensions into adjacent categories.
• 20% — New Category Product Strategy & Ideation: Explore, validate, and champion new product opportunities aligned with long-term brand strategy.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design.
• 8–10 years of experience in industrial design, preferably within Consumer Packaged Goods.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating advanced form development, user-centered problem-solving, and craftsmanship.
• Proficiency in 2D and visualization tools (Illustrator, Photoshop, KeyShot) and advanced 3D CAD software (Rhino, SolidWorks, CREO, ProE, Fusion 360, or Alias).
• Experience directing model makers and developing functional and aesthetic prototypes.
• Ability to create and iterate independently, with strong organizational and project leadership skills.
• Confident communicator and presenter with the ability to engage senior executives and cross-functional teams.
• Comfortable collaborating with Marketing Insights to identify whitespace opportunities and customer needs.
• Skilled in partnering with Design and Manufacturing Engineers to ensure design integrity and manufacturability.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally – minimal travel, around 5%.

Work Environment:

This position will perform most job duties in an office environment where using a computer, software applications, telephone, printer, etc. are essential.
