Dow has an exciting opportunity as a Senior Instrumentation Technologist located in Texas City, TX!
About you and this role:
As the Senior Instrumentation Technologist, you will provide maintenance craft specific support to plants at the Texas City site. You will maintain and repair all types of equipment with craft knowledge and expertise. You will collaborate with the maintenance team to support reliability improvement across all Operations facilities at the Texas City site. This role requires full proficiency in a range of technical, operational, and analytical/scientific processes and procedures through job-related training and considerable on the job experience to perform a variety of work assignments. As the Senior Instrumentation Technologist, you will act as a resource for Maintenance and Operations team members with less experience.
Responsibilities
  • Enable the people who manage and/or perform work in the field with the tools and information needed to perform their job effectively and efficiently.
  • Act as a technical resource for Operations and Maintenance team members.
  • Review and manage the related inspections.
  • Participate in assigned unit updates and planning meetings for alignment of needs and priorities. Actively participate in the Management of Change process.
  • Provide day-to-day and off-hour advanced troubleshooting support to the plants.
  • Provide planning support for daily activities and shutdowns with detailed scopes development for repair and compliance work.
  • Participate in Root Cause Investigations (RCI’s).
  • Conduct unit walkthroughs and assessments for continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent is required AND one of the following:
    • 10 or more years of instrumentation maintenance, manufacturing, or related experience.
    • A minimum of an Associate degree and 6 or more years of instrumentation maintenance, manufacturing, or related experience.
    • In lieu of degree, 3 or more years of military training/experience and 6 or more years of instrumentation maintenance, manufacturing, or related experience will be accepted.
  • Must be willing to work weekends and holidays, as required.
  • Must be willing to work overtime (extra hours beyond your regular schedule) as required.
  • Must be willing and able to work on-call as required.
  • A current, valid U.S. driver’s license is required for this position.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Your Skills
  • Technical Proficiency - Demonstrates deep knowledge and hands-on ability in maintenance craft techniques, tools, and equipment. This includes diagnosing issues, performing repairs, and applying specialized procedures learned through training and experience. The ability to identify and fix problems in devices that measure things like pressure, temperature, and flow.
  • Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) - Applies strategies focused on improving equipment reliability and performance across operations. Involves analyzing failure modes, identifying preventive actions, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Troubleshooting and Problem Solving - Uses logical and methodical approaches to identify root causes of equipment malfunctions and implement effective solutions. Often acts as a resource for less experienced team members during complex repairs.
  • Team Collaboration and Mentorship - Works effectively within a maintenance team, sharing expertise and guiding junior colleagues. Acts as an informal mentor by offering support, advice, and practical knowledge to enhance team capability.
  • Operational Support Enablement - Ensures field personnel have the necessary tools, documentation, and information to perform their tasks efficiently. This includes preparing work packages, updating procedures, and coordinating with other departments.
  • Mechanical Principles - Applies knowledge of mechanical principles to ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of instrument and electrical systems.
Willing and able to meet physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • Wear and use respirators.
  • Perform frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
  • Work in tight or closed-in spaces.
  • Climb stairs/ladders and work high off the ground.

  • Lift a maximum of 50 lbs.
  • This role does involve elevated work greater than or equal to four feet above the ground. Must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE), including harnesses with a total weight capacity of 300lbs.
