About the role
Your day to day will include;
- Providing practical and commercially focused legal advice to the HBF Group on everything from corporate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, to governance and compliance
- Advising on key regulatory and legislative issues, including those involving APRA, ASIC, ACCC, and the OAIC
- Managing and reviewing contracts, agreements, and other legal documentation to support major business initiatives
- Supporting the HBF Group with clear, concise and strategic legal counsel
- Keeping business leaders informed on evolving legislation and regulatory change while supporting translating it into action
- Leading by example on ethical practice, collaboration and risk awareness across HBF
About you
You're comfortable stepping into a fast-paced, evolving environment where your advice is sought at the highest levels and trusted to guide key strategic decisions.
You bring a strong sense of accountability and professional independence. You know when to take ownership, when to escalate, and how to provide clear, balanced advice that supports both legal integrity and commercial outcomes.
You're able to work effectively with minimal supervision, prioritising multiple matters and managing competing deadlines without compromising on quality or detail. You are collaborative and value teamwork but are equally confident operating independently and exercising sound judgment under pressure.
You'll also bring;
- A Bachelor of Laws and current admission to practise law in Australia
- 10+ years' post admission experience, ideally from a top tier firm or large, complex organisation
- Deep expertise in corporate and commercial law, regulatory matters, and managing major investigations or enquiries
- Excellent drafting, negotiation and advocacy skills with a sharp eye for detail
- Strong business acumen and the ability to apply legal insight to real world operational and strategic issues
- Proven ability to build trust and credibility with senior executives, boards, regulators and external advisors
