The Opportunity
Netflix is seeking a talented U.S. business immigration lawyer to join the Minors, Immigration & Diligence (MInD) team within the Studio Affairs legal team. The MInD team supports important aspects of Netflix’s business, historically focused on Netflix original content needs for films and series originating in the U.S. and Canada. For this same region, we will now also provide legal support for Netflix’s corporate immigration needs in partnership with our Talent Mobility team. This will be an exciting opportunity to collaborate on Netflix’s internal immigration program design, assist in enhancing operating models/workflows, and continue to build strong relationships with leadership and other internal business partners. This role will be focused on providing U.S. immigration legal strategy and expertise in support of Netflix’s corporate business needs. Location for this role is Los Angeles or Los Gatos, California.
Your Responsibilities:
Serve as the internal legal thought partner to the Talent Mobility team on corporate U.S. and Canada immigration matters;
Act as an internal key subject matter expert (SME), translating complex legal regulations into actionable guidance for the business;
Partner with Talent Mobility to manage and resolve high-priority escalations and complex immigration matters to support business needs;
Provide case assessment and management for senior level employees;
Collaborate with Talent Mobility to select and deploy an appropriate immigration technology resource;
Manage the work of others, starting with one or more direct reports;
Collaborate with MInD colleagues and internal cross-functional partners to build out and refine immigration workflows and systems;
Assist in managing outside counsel relationships; and
Otherwise assist MInD colleagues on the work of the team.
To be successful:
You have prior experience as an immigration attorney for at least 8-10 years. Previous work as in-house immigration counsel is preferred, but not required.
You have experience leading a team and/or managing the work of individuals.
You have experience advising on overall company immigration strategies, considering competing needs and legal differences globally, and working closely with internal business partners to ensure the integrity of the program.
You have experience providing individual immigration case assessments and overseeing your own caseload.
You have experience leading and advising through tricky situations that involve gray areas, nuanced analyses, risk assessments, and/or creative solutions.
You have strong attention to detail and possess excellent organizational skills, an ability to work well with changing information, and an ability to manage competing deadlines.
You are effective and concise in your communications, and can tailor communications depending on the forum or audience.
You are innovative, exercise great judgment and can articulate sound reasoning for your decisions.
You are a team player who acts with a sense of urgency and adapts to a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
J.D. and membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state bar is required.
Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $420,000-$690,000.
