About This Opportunity
We are seeking a Sr Manager, People Operations and Total Rewards. In this role, you will lead Cascade’s Total Rewards and People Operations strategy, ensuring competitive, compliant, and employee-centric programs. This role integrates compensation, benefits, compliance governance, operational excellence, and analytics. The Sr Manager People Operations and Total Rewards is part of the People Management team and collaborates closely with Talent Acquisition, Talent Development, and Employee Experience to deliver a seamless employee lifecycle. Serves as the People Team’s subject matter lead for Cascade’s ESOP, connecting plan operations, communication, and culture to reinforce our ownership mindset.

What You Will Be Doing:

People Operations
  • Lead end-to-end HR operations, including onboarding, offboarding, and lifecycle processes to ensure a seamless employee experience.
  • Drive process automation and HR technology optimization to improve efficiency and scalability.
Compensation Strategy & Total Rewards
  • Design and maintain competitive compensation structures, salary bands, and incentive programs aligned with market benchmarks.
  • Partner with leadership to ensure pay practices support equity, transparency, and retention goals.
  • Oversee benefits strategy, vendor relationships, and annual enrollment processes to deliver a best-in-class employee experience.
ESOP Strategy and Administration
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for ESOP plan operations, ensuring compliance and accurate administration.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Legal, and Executive Team to manage ESOP audits, allocations, and employee education initiatives.
  • Champion ownership culture by integrating ESOP principles into communication and engagement strategies.
Analytics & AI-Enabled HR Solutions
  • Develop and maintain HR dashboards to provide actionable insights on workforce trends, turnover, and engagement.
  • Implement AI-driven tools to streamline HR processes, enhance predictive analytics, and support data-driven decision-making.
Compliance & Policy Management
  • Ensure adherence to wage transparency, EEO, SOC II, and audit readiness.
  • Manage 401(k) compliance and partner with auditors to ensure accurate reporting and fiduciary oversight.
  • Maintain and update HR policies to reflect evolving legal requirements and best practices.
Leadership Culture and Collaboration
  • Mentor and develop the People Operations team, fostering a culture of accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, IT, and Talent teams to align HR strategies with business objectives.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on compensation, benefits, and workforce planning.
This is a full-time, exempt position located in Portland Oregon. We are also open to non-Portland candidates with a willingness to travel regularly. Minimal travel is anticipated for this role.
Qualifications

Applicants for this role are required to have:
  • 5–7+ years of experience in People Operations or Total Rewards, with at least 3 years directly managing compensation programs.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in HR systems and compensation analytics tools.
  • Proven experience building and managing compensation structures, 401(k), and other Total Rewards programs in a scaling or high-growth company
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. employment and compensation regulations, including pay equity and wage transparency.
  • Demonstrated ability to streamline processes and leverage HR technology (HRIS, ATS, engagement tools).
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills; able to balance detail with strategic impact
  • Mindset of curiosity, constant learning, shared success, continuous improvement, and future-focus.
A successful candidate should also demonstrate these preferred characteristics and/or skills:
  • ESOP experience preferred.
  • Global experience preferred
  • Relevant HR certification (e.g., CCP or SHRM-SCP) preferred

Compensation & Benefits
Our total rewards include competitive pay and excellent benefits. These include health, vision, FSA or HSA options with an employer contribution, life insurance, short- and long-term disability insurance, paid parental leave, 401k retirement plan with a guaranteed 3% contribution, Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP), annual cash performance bonus, paid vacation, sick time, and an inclusive, flexible paid holiday policy, wellbeing contribution of $500 for HSA, FSA, or LSA (Lifestyle Spending Account).
The targeted salary range for this position in Portland OR is $115,500 - $144,375/year. However, final salary offered may vary depending on non-discriminatory factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experiences, and geographical location if different than the above.
