Senior Merchandiser

· Independently handle specific buyer accounts and manage the entire order cycle from proto sample development to shipment.

· Prepare and maintain the Time and Action (T&A) calendar for all orders, closely monitoring deadlines and ensuring on-time delivery.

· Clarify all necessary information, technical specifications, and quality requirements with the buyer.

· Oversee the product development process, specifically for knitted apparel (circular knit, sweaters, etc.).

· Coordinate with the design and sampling teams to execute knitting trials, finalize fabric specs, and ensure samples (proto, fit, size set, pre-production) are developed accurately and on time for buyer approval.

· Ensure all developments meet buyer-specific testing parameters.

· Conduct accurate product costing (fabric, yarn, trims, labour, testing and overhead) and develop pricing strategies to maximize profitability while remaining competitive.

· Negotiate prices, terms, and delivery schedules with buyers to confirm orders.

· Negotiate with suppliers and vendors for raw materials (yarn, fabric, trims) to secure the best quality and price.

· Manage the sourcing and procurement of knit fabrics, trims, and accessories, ensuring they are ordered, approved (lab dips, print, embroidery), and in-housed on time per the T&A.

· Collaborate with the purchasing and store departments for material booking and inventory control.

· Serve as the main point of contact between the buyer, production, and QA teams.

· Monitor the production floor status, advise on process invention, and troubleshoot technical or quality issues that arise during knitting, dyeing, or garment construction.

· Ensure all production aligns with the buyer’s quality standards and compliance requirements.

· Arrange and manage final inspections and shipping sample approvals with the buyer/QC teams.

· Maintain excellent internal and external communication with buyers, suppliers, and all functional departments (Design, Production, QA, Commercial/Logistics).

· Prepare and update all critical documentation, including internal order sheets, purchase orders, cost sheets, and shipment reports.

· Qualification: Bachelor’s degree or Diploma, preferably in Textile Technology, Fashion Merchandising, Apparel Production, or a related technical discipline.

· Should have 5+ years of relevant experience in garment merchandising.

· A significant portion of that experience must be specifically in knitted garments (e.g., Tees, Polo Shirts, Hoodies, Sweatshirts, Knit Bottoms).

· Proven experience in independently handling accounts/buyers and managing the entire order execution process.

· In-depth knowledge of knit fabric construction (single jersey, double knit, fleece, rib, pique, etc.), yarn types, knitting machine settings, and dyeing/finishing processes.

· Strong understanding of garment construction, fit, and pattern making for knitted apparel.

· Working knowledge of garment testing parameters (e.g., colour fastness, shrinkage, spirality) and quality standards.

· Mandatory expertise in garment costing (cost sheet preparation, consumption calculation) and profit margin analysis.

· High proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) for T&A, tracking, costing, and reporting.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (and local language, if applicable) for effective liaison with international buyers and local factory teams.

· Strong negotiation skills to secure favourable pricing and terms with both buyers and vendors.

· Proven ability to lead a team (junior merchandisers/assistants), coordinate cross-functional teams, and act as a decisive problem-solver.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹600,000.00 - ₹900,000.00 per year
