City of Phoenix - IT - Senior Network Engineer - 152027 (100% Onsite)
Contract: Until 04/30/2026
Location: 150 S 12th St, Phoenix, AZ 85003
Closing Date: 12/5/2025 @ 2 PM
Schedule: 100% Onsite, Mon–Fri, may exceed 40 hours; includes weekends/evenings/holidays as needed.
On-Call: Required—24/7 tiered rotation (2 weeks on-call every 6 weeks).

Responsibilities

Provide network design and security strategy for the Fire Department’s CAD network

Deliver excellent customer service to Fire staff, vendors, and partners

Plan and coordinate network/infrastructure projects; oversee work of reports and consultants

Manage installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network connectivity

Lead documentation efforts: knowledge base, diagrams, configurations, processes

Assist with annual budget and Capital Improvement Plan for network components

Ensure system architectures align with City technical standards and Fire Department vision

Evaluate/implement WAN infrastructure including Cisco Nexus Data Center & Palo Alto NGFW

Manage vendor relationships and Fire network-related contracts

Partner with the City’s ITS Department to ensure cohesive operations

Research technologies to improve reliability of Fire Dispatch Services

Participate in internal, partner, and vendor meetings

Audit devices/configurations for security, standards, and best practices

Create and manage tickets for incidents, requests, problem resolution, and changes

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years in network planning, design, and maintenance

5+ years configuring/managing/troubleshooting Cisco IOS & Cisco Nexus

Supervisory experience with small technical teams

Strong background with routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)

Experience with IPsec, point-to-point VPNs, NAT

• Certifications: CCNP, Palo Alto NGFW Engineer, or similar
