Position Objective:

The Senior Quantity Surveyor is responsible for the timely valuation of all Civil Construction work and to effectively manage all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects. This includes ensuring that projects are completed within budget, preparation and submission of Payment Applications, Subcontractor payments, Final Account, claims and variations, issuance of Contractual correspondences, accurately measuring and valuing construction work, minimizing costs while maintaining quality standards, and providing detailed financial reports to support decision-making. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will collaborate closely with project managers, Subcontractors clients, and all stake holders to ensure value for money and adherence to project timelines and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare budgets for the pre-tendering process for both the QS and the Procurements.
  • Analyze groundwork's tenders with QS.
  • Ensure that QS and procurement are achieving the full potential of the tenders.
  • Preparation of Bills of Quantities for nonstandard designs in conjunction with Purchasing Department.
  • Create price sets to enable QS's to make payments.
  • Check payments with QS prior to authorization.
  • Create house bills from price sets going through with both QS and procurements.
  • Prepare and evaluate site works budgets.
  • Prepare full site budget.
  • Assemble draft budget estimate.
  • Ensure QS's meet pre-valuation deadlines.
  • Agree with QS timetable to complete valuations, monitor progress throughout the agreed valuation period.
  • Prepare summary of monthly valuation results.
  • Prepare site progress accumulative figures for Finance.
  • Prepare contract performance reports for Quantity Surveyor Manager and go through results
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Key Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from a reputable university or colleges.
  • An active listener with the ability to focus on customer requirements.
  • Maintain suitable records of correspondence and work completed for reference and auditing purposes.
  • Civil Construction Quantity Surveying background.
  • Ability to make technically and economically sound recommendations with complete information and within the deadline required.
  • Ability to represent the company's commercial and technical interests with vendors and contract staff
  • 5 + year's working experience in well-established Contracting Companies in GCC
