Role Overview

As a Senior Store Keeper , you will be the backbone of material control and inventory flow for our client's project operations. You'll oversee store management end-to-end—ensuring materials are received, stored, issued, recorded, and safeguarded with absolute accuracy. This role directly impacts project timelines, cost efficiency, and operational excellence. Purpose of the Role

The Senior Store Keeper is responsible for the complete control and supervision of materials, tools, and equipment across multiple project sites. The role ensures accurate stock management, timely material availability, strict compliance with HSE and storage standards, and seamless coordination with procurement, logistics, and site teams. This position directly influences project delivery timelines, cost control, and operational efficiency.

Key Contributions

  • Prevents material shortages and delays through accurate forecasting and stock control.
  • Reduces wastage, pilferage, and inventory discrepancies through disciplined processes.
  • Ensures safe, compliant, and organized storage in alignment with UAE construction standards.
  • Supports project continuity through timely issuance, documentation, and stakeholder updates.

Key Result Areas (KRAs) & Responsibilities

  • Inventory Control & Documentation
  • Maintain 100% accuracy of stock records using ERP spreadsheets/logs.
  • Handle GRN creation, quantity/quality checks, and verification against purchase orders.
  • Conduct weekly cycle counts and monthly reconciliations; resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Maintain updated bin cards, stock registers, location tagging, and item traceability.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly store reports for management review.
  • Material Receiving & Issuance
  • Receive all incoming materials with proper inspection and documentation.
  • Issue materials only against approved requisitions; maintain clear authorization trails.
  • Coordinate with site engineers and project managers for priority material requests.
  • Monitor issuance of consumables, high-value items, and project-critical materials.
  • Track returnable items and ensure timely closure of material return notes.
  • Store Organization & HSE Compliance
  • Maintain safe, clean, and compliant storage areas aligned with HSE standards.
  • Implement proper stacking, segregation, and safe handling practices for all items.
  • Ensure all MSDS sheets for chemicals are available and accessible.
  • Conduct routine inspections of storage areas and report hazards or near misses.
  • Ensure fire safety equipment and emergency access points are maintained.
  • Stock Optimization & Cost Control
  • Monitor reorder levels, consumption patterns, and material aging.
  • Flag slow-moving, damaged, or near-expiry items for disposal or reallocation.
  • Minimize material wastage by proper handling, storage, and tracking.
  • Support procurement with accurate demand forecasts and consumption data.
  • Assist in standardizing material coding and categorization across projects.
  • Equipment & Tool Management
  • Maintain updated registers for tools, equipment, and calibration schedules.
  • Track issuance and returns using sign-in/sign-out protocols.
  • Report missing, damaged, or overdue items to project management.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams for tool servicing and repair schedules.
  • Team & Stakeholder Coordination
  • Supervise junior storekeepers and helpers; assign daily tasks and ensure compliance.
  • Train team members on store procedures, documentation, and HSE practices.
  • Work closely with procurement, logistics, QA/QC, project engineers, and finance.
  • Support project mobilizations and demobilizations with material readiness.

Experience

Qualifications & Skills

  • 5–7 years of storekeeping experience in construction, MEP, manufacturing, or engineering industries.
  • Minimum 2 years in a senior or supervisory role.
  • Experience handling civil, MEP, scaffolding, or structural materials is preferred.

Education

  • High School Diploma (mandatory)
  • Diploma in Logistics/Supply Chain/Materials Management (preferred)

Certifications (preferred)

  • Basic HSE Certification
  • Inventory/Store Management Certification
  • Forklift Operator License (advantage)

Technical Skills

  • Strong command of inventory control techniques and documentation.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP, Excel, GRNs, MRNs, stock ledgers, and material codes.
  • Ability to read and understand basic material specifications and drawings.
  • Knowledge of safe storage, hazardous material handling, and material classification.

Communication

  • Clear verbal and written communication for coordination across project teams.
  • Ability to escalate issues, report discrepancies, and communicate material requirements proactively.

Leadership Skills

  • Ability to supervise store teams, enforce discipline, and maintain process consistency.
  • Strong problem-solving, prioritization, and accountability mindset.
