Job Purpose and Accountability:
Reporting to the Operations Manager the Shift Charge Engineer will be accountable for leading an Operations Shift Team to ensure the plant meets the required availability, reliability, efficiency, generation and cost targets, safely and within strict environmental limits. This will include responsibility for making accurate and timely decisions on matters affecting plant processes and performance and consulting with the Operations Manager when necessary. The role will require a detailed understanding and practical experience of the technologies associated to operating a modern Gas Turbine plant, Desalination plant and a wide range of auxiliary equipment.

Key Responsibilities and Authorities:
- Ensure safe and efficient plant operations within environmental limits.
- Lead and motivate the shift team to meet performance and availability targets.
- Coordinate with customers and system operators on operational matters.
- Maintain and update operational procedures, documentation, and training programs.
- Manage budgets, cost controls, and ensure compliance with commercial contracts.
- Enforce and participate in Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) policies, audits, and risk assessments.

Safe plant operation.
Plant availability.
Plant short-term output.
Plant short-term efficiency.
Action in the event of incidents and changes.
Quality of feedback and reporting.
Education:
A degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or) Industrial, marine or utility training in power generation (or) Accredited Engineering Diploma will be suitable if accompanied by the relevant experience.
Experience:
- Leading and Managing People skills with at least 5 years of total operation experience with progressive experience as auxiliary, boiler, turbine and control room operator.
- Experience preferred in CCGT, Gas Turbines Desalination plant and a wide range of auxiliary equipment.
- Budget reporting
- Commercial awareness and PPA/PWPA knowledge
