Ohm Coffee Roasters is a small but hard-rocking specialty coffee roaster, with a loyal and fast-growing customer base in and around Napa, CA. Started in May, 2016, the truck visits local farmers markets, wineries, and events big and small primarily in the North Bay. We are a mainstay of the Napa Farmers Market, and have had our truck at some of the premier events in the area including BottleRock, Auction Napa Valley, the Napa Valley Film Festival, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, and Napa Porchfest. In addition to the truck business, Ohm also sells to local grocers, cafés, restaurants and wineries, as well as online via our website and rapidly expanding subscription service. PURPOSE OF JOB

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for helping our customers “amplify” their day, safely, deliciously, profitably, and with a smile. They are responsible for managing the day-to-day shift operations, maintaining high standards and conditions, and fostering a positive, safe, work environment that motivates our staff to deliver outstanding customer service while efficiently serving drinks of uncompromising quality. The Shift Supervisor plays a critical role in shaping the tone and personality of our small business. This individual understands that it is flawless execution of the details that makes for an outstanding customer experience, and that outstanding customer experiences are the lifeblood of our business.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

Provide Rockstar Customer Service

  • Be the Role Model for—and “owner” of—outstanding service during shift. Lead and inspire team members to do the same.
  • Proactively solve customer problems and satisfy customers in various situations.
  • Develop a rapport with customers by learning their names, favorite drinks and food items.
  • Respond proactively to prevent customer service situations. Investigate and resolve customer incidents, documenting if necessary.
  • Consistently monitor, coach, and encourage team members to improve their service skills.
  • Solicit customer feedback to understand customer needs and the needs of the local community.

Serve Rockstar Products

  • Ensure all company drink recipes and procedures are followed, maintaining the highest quality and consistent product standards.
  • Ensure that all team members are educated on our products and services, develop a deep understanding of our various types of coffee, regions, and other products.
  • Taste products on a per shift basis for quality assurance.

Day-to Day management: safe, efficient, profitable truck operations

  • Must be able to safely and confidently operate/drive all company vehicles(Sprinter Van and Coffee Truck/Step Van)
  • Truck startup and breakdown—ensure truck is fully stocked/prepared for the day’s shift, arrives/departs each stop on time, and has the best possible positioning/visual merchandising at its locations.
  • Post-shift, ensure truck is thoroughly cleaned/restocked and secured for the next shift, with any reorder or maintenance issues communicated or resolved.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work environment, with an eye for detail.
  • Interface with on-site event planners/managers to ensure success.
  • Perform all POS duties, ensure all orders are entered and transactions completed accurately.
  • Establish effective and positive communication across all team members.
  • Ensure all cash handling procedures are upheld. Accountable for shift cash drawer.
  • Assist in planning and executing all sales promotions effectively and efficiently.
  • Follow and direct team members to follow company policies and procedures, and adhere to merchandising and cleanliness standards.
  • Promote and practice safe work habits, reporting potential safety or security hazards, operational inconsistencies and team member incidents to the owner. Report/document team member accidents, conduct initial investigation and determinations of root cause in the interest of maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable wage and hour laws, ensure team members adhere to meal and break policy.

Ongoing management: Support business operations

  • Work with managers to ensure products are reordered in a timely manner (beans, dairy, dry goods…) with no out-of-stocks or spoiled product.
  • Assist with scheduling and event planning.
  • Assist with month-end inventory and other procedure
  • Assist with production of cold brew and other prepared items as needed.
  • Assist with following the truck preventative maintenance schedule, manage other maintenance activities as assigned.
  • Assume additional management tasks and projects as assigned.

Train, Coach, Mentor

  • Lead, coach, and develop the team. Provide real-time feedback and take corrective action when necessary to ensure team members are achieving their highest potential. Contribute to regular employee performance reviews.
  • Meet team members at their level of education, and set goals for continuous development.
  • Challenge and inspire employees to achieve business results.
  • Recognize, reinforce, and celebrate individual and team accomplishments.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1-4 baristas/support staff per shift.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Basic computer skills required—Square POS, Homebase time clock, Google Drive/Sheets
  • Must be able to work overtime, including weekends, early mornings, evenings and special events as needed.
  • Must be able to safely drive/operate a 21-foot coffee truck.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. English required, Spanish or other languages a plus.
  • Basic mechanical, electrical, and/or automotive maintenance knowledge a plus.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum one year of retail or six months of specialty coffee experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience strongly preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • ServSafe or equivalent CA food handler or manager certificate.
  • CA Driver License, clean driving record.
  • SCAA training/certification a plus.
  • First Aid/CPR certification a plus.

  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. and frequently bend and twist from the waist, and bend from the knees.
  • This position will require frequent standing, stepping up/down truck steps and rear platform.
  • Gross and fine motor use of arms, hands, and fingers.
  • Must be able to adjust vision to both day and night lighting, and be able to focus on distant and close-range objects.
  • Regularly required to handle food, hot beverages, and work with sharp objects.

Pay: $23-$25/hour (Includes tips)

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
