JOB TITLE: Shipping Container repairer

DESCRIPTION OF BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To repair and maintain metal refuse containers used by shipping lines . Employees in this classification receive limited supervision within a framework of standard policies and procedures. Employees in this job class direct and monitor the work of others in the accomplishment of container repair work. This job class requires technical knowledge and skill related to the effective methods and procedures used in metal and welding repair work

TYPICAL DUTIES

- Maintains and repairs containers by cleaning, scrubbing, removing dents, sanding, welding, undercoating, and painting them

- Work in the safe and proper methods of container repair Operates a variety of equipment including welders, spray guns, torches, and hand and power tools

- Maintains machinery and tools in good working condition

- Maintains proper and accurate records of time and material costs

- Delivers drop boxes to customers

- Performs related duties similar to the above in scope and function as required

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

· Knowledge of:

- tools, methods, and procedures used in container repair and maintenance work

- metal repair techniques

- painting and the use of compressors

- record keeping

- safe and proper work practices

· Ability to:

- skillfully and efficiently repair and maintain containers used by shipping lines

- properly operate hand and power tools

- maintain a variety of records related to assignment

- understand and follow oral and written directions in an independent manner

- meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform required duties

- Must have basic electrical skills and measurement skills

- Proficiency in operating any type of welding machine

- Good dexterity

- Able to work in various temperature conditions

Training and Experience:

- Worked in container shipping companies

- Worked in the container maintenance department in a shipping Any combination of training and experience which would provide therequired knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

- Certificate of experience in container maintenance and references that can be communicated with

- 3 years of work experience in container repair and maintenance
