Project management and coordination
- Supervise daily activities: Oversee the day-to-day construction work on-site to ensure it progresses according to plan.
- Coordinate stakeholders: Liaise with architects, subcontractors, suppliers, and other team members to manage materials and tasks efficiently.
- Monitor progress: Track project milestones, identify delays, and report on the project's status to management.
- Manage resources: Plan and adjust schedules for materials, labor, and equipment to meet project deadlines.
- Budget and estimates: Develop project budgets, compile estimates for technical requirements, and monitor material usage.
Technical and quality control
- Interpret drawings: Read and understand architectural, structural, and engineering drawings to ensure work is executed correctly.
- Ensure quality: Conduct quality checks and inspections throughout the construction process, verifying that materials and workmanship meet standards.
- Material testing: Oversee and perform tests on materials like cement, steel, and concrete to ensure they meet specifications.
- Technical problem-solving: Identify and resolve technical issues that arise on the construction site.
Safety and compliance
- Enforce safety regulations: Ensure all site personnel follow safety procedures and guidelines.
- Monitor compliance: Make sure construction work adheres to all legal regulations, building codes, and health and safety standards.
- Obtain approvals: Ensure necessary approvals are obtained for materials and processes.
Documentation and reporting
- Maintain records: Keep accurate site registers and project documentation, such as daily progress reports.
- Gather data: Collect and compile data for reports and use it to evaluate operations and suggest improvements.
- Record measurements: Record measurements of work before it is covered up.
