Site Engineer (Construction)

Job Summary

The Site Engineer will be responsible for the day-to-day management and technical supervision of construction activities at the designated project site in Ahmedabad. This role involves ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards, adhering to all relevant specifications and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Site Management & Supervision:
• Oversee and manage all on-site construction operations, including civil, structural, and finishing works, ensuring they align with approved drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
• Allocate and manage site resources, including labor, materials, and equipment.
• Quality Assurance & Control:
• Implement and enforce Quality Control (QC) procedures, conducting regular inspections and tests on materials and workmanship (e.g., concrete strength tests, rebar checking).
• Ensure all work adheres to the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and other applicable codes.
• Prepare and maintain detailed daily progress reports, quality checklists, and measurement sheets.
• Planning & Coordination:
• Assist the Project Manager in developing and updating project schedules (e.g., using MS Project or Primavera).
• Coordinate effectively with contractors, subcontractors, architects, consultants, and the internal design/purchase teams.
• Resolve any on-site technical issues or discrepancies in drawings promptly.
• Safety & Compliance:
• Strictly implement and monitor site Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies to ensure a safe working environment.
• Conduct site safety briefings and toolbox talks.
• Ensure all necessary permits and regulatory compliances are maintained at the site.
• Billing & Measurement:
• Accurately measure completed work (using tools like Dumpy Level/Total Station if required) for contractor billing and internal progress tracking.
• Verify and process subcontractor/vendor bills based on certified measurements.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Education: Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Experience: 2-4 years of proven experience as a Site Engineer in the Real Estate or Building Construction industry (preferably high-rise residential/commercial projects).
• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of civil construction methods, materials, and quality standards, including shuttering, concreting, and finishing work.
• Software Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD for reading and interpreting drawings, and MS Office (Excel, Word) for reporting and documentation.
• Local Knowledge: Familiarity with local construction practices, labor availability, and supplier network in the Ahmedabad region is an advantage.
• Soft Skills: Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Language: Fluency in English, Hindi, and Gujarati.
