Key responsibilities
- Supplier management: Identify, onboard, and evaluate new and existing suppliers based on company procedures and sourcing strategies.
- RFQ and negotiation: Issue requests for quotations (RFQs), analyze bids, and negotiate prices, delivery times, and contract terms with suppliers.
- Cost analysis: Perform cost comparisons, analyze total cost of ownership (including factors like exchange rates and transportation), and develop cost reduction strategies.
- Contract management: Prepare and execute contracts, including special conditions, and ensure purchase order acknowledgments comply with the terms.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Work with internal teams like engineering, operations, finance, and quality to develop sourcing strategies, define requirements, and resolve issues.
- Technical support: Read technical documents, drawings, and specifications to ensure supplier compliance and assist with parts qualification.
- Performance monitoring: Track and manage supplier performance related to delivery, quality, and cost.
- Risk mitigation: Drive dual sourcing to ensure supply continuity and develop strategies to mitigate long-lead time issues.
Required skills and qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related manufacturing field.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in supply chain, sourcing, or a similar role.
- Technical skills: Ability to read mechanical drawings, understand Bill of Materials (BOM), and knowledge of relevant technical specifications is often required.
- Analytical skills: Strong analytical mindset for cost and data analysis and making data-driven decisions.
- Negotiation skills: Proven ability to negotiate prices, terms, and contracts effectively.
- Communication skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams and suppliers.
