POSITION SUMMARY:
The EI /ECSE Specialist's responsibility is to interpret evaluation results and develop appropriate individual family service plans for children found eligible for EI/ECSE services, and to provide intervention for eligible students who demonstrate the need for early intervention and early childhood special education services. Services are provided on a direct, consultative or integrated basis in the child's natural environment (based on age of child).
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Evaluation & Transition
1. Coordinate and participate in a multidisciplinary team to assess and gather information about referred children with suspected disabilities.
2. Conduct comprehensive evaluation of children’s developmental history and current level of ability using standardized and curriculum based testing measures.
3. Write evaluation reports for family, peer professionals and community personnel.
4. Represent the district in authorizing needed services for eligible children ages 0-5.
5. Attend and participate in meetings for the purpose of eligibility determination and the development of IEPs for incoming kindergarteners.
6. Attend IFSPs of students in service who will transition to kindergarten.
7. Work with families to provide support and information regarding specific disabilities, identify community resources and provide information on child development and programs for the development of IEPs prior to kindergarten.
8. Coordinate and provide support for school teams for incoming kindergarteners.
This position will also be expected to meet the following needs:

b. Contributing relevant information to facilitate planning, problem solving, and decision making.
2. Carries out tasks with students and families as assigned that:
a. Protect the legal rights of students, and
b. Protect the safety, health and well being of students.
3. Complies with all applicable district, state and federal policies, procedures, and regulations.
4. Performs support tasks to enhance the effectiveness of the evaluation and transition process.
5. Communicates effectively with diverse audiences, as appropriate.
6. Adheres to the timelines and data requirements.

3. Accurately and effectively performs routine support tasks, including data and documentation duties, and uses and/or maintains evaluation kits and technology
4. Uses computers and other technology in a purposeful manner to facilitate the evaluation process.
5. Performs in a professional manner
a. Complies with applicable policies, procedures, rules, regulations and professional standards for the position.
b. Respects confidential information and the privacy of students, staff and families.
c. Carries out work responsibilities effectively under pressure of deadlines, difficult situations, interruptions, and new or emergency situations.
d. Demonstrates continued professional growth to meet changes in position
e. Meets applicable district physical ability/health safety guidelines for the position.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
Incumbents must be properly licensed by the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission for assignment as a Professional Educator.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Knowledge of eligibility categories for special education 0-5 years of age and state required eligibility forms.
2. Experience with eligibility criteria for Autism is recommended

COMPENSATION: $57,206 - $111,314 (Annual salary based on 1.0 FTE)
