Special Educator

We are seeking a full-time teacher with a Special Educator License for K-12th grade to provide individualized special education & behavioral services to underserved students with a history of trauma. East Valley Academy maintains a small classroom size not exceeding 6 students, and a maximum of 24 students in the program.

In addition to the academic component, EVA utilizes a strengths-based, resiliency model that is highlighted within the adventure and experiential learning components of their programs.

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with classroom case managers, classroom clinicians, and clinical staff to assure quality and comprehensive supports are in place for students.
• Conducts risk assessment and make appropriate interventions. Assist emergency staff with screening and placement progress as needed.
• Diagnose with formal/informal assessments, strengths and weaknesses of students learning ability and assist in coordinating appropriate services.
• Attends meetings with parents and team members regarding special education students, and assist with IEP goal development.
• Assist and model appropriate problem solving skills, social skills, life skills, and a healthy lifestyle.
• Provide IEP and 504 plan oversight

Vermont Licensure as a Special Educator with certifications to serve: Emotional Disability, Other Health Impairments, and Intellectual Disabilities is required.

Pay: $33.65 - $36.00 per hour
