Position Overview:
FactSet is seeking an experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to join our Data Platform Engineering - SQL team. In this role, you’ll manage and optimize mission-critical PostgreSQL databases that underpin FactSet’s global financial solutions. We’re seeking a proactive, technically skilled, and collaborative professional who is ready to tackle complex database challenges at scale.

What You’II Do :

  • Administer, maintain, and optimise multi-terabyte PostgreSQL database environments, focusing on reliability, security, and performance.
  • Install, configure, and upgrade PostgreSQL servers in both on-premises and AWS environments (including RDS and Aurora).
  • Lead and support database upgrades from lower versions to higher versions like 14,15,16,17.
  • Monitoring RDS Databases across Factset using monitoring tools and building proper documentation for stakeholders.
  • Implement and manage database high availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), backups, and restore procedures.
  • Perform deep-dive troubleshooting and performance tuning of SQL queries and database engines.
  • Ensure database security, manage versioning, and maintain detailed documentation for ongoing processes.
  • Develop, test, and deploy automation scripts using Python and Shell for DBA tasks and monitoring solutions.
  • Work collaboratively with multiple business and technical teams to define requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Participate in rotational on-call duties and execute weekend maintenance activities as required.
  • Continuously learn and apply new database technologies and best practices.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience administering PostgreSQL databases in high-volume, mission-critical environments (MSSQL and Oracle experience is a plus).
  • Advanced proficiency with AWS services (RDS, EC2, S3) for cloud-based database management.
  • Experience with database cloud migration and cross-platform migrations.
  • Strong scripting skills (Python, Shell) for automation and tooling.
  • Demonstrated ability in high availability and disaster recovery planning and execution.
  • Deep understanding of database security, upgrades, and version control.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills and expertise in performance optimisation.
  • Excellent communication, analytical thinking, and team collaboration skills.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments and independently learn new technologies.
  • Willingness to participate in rotational on-call support and weekend maintenance.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with AWS
  • Kubernates, Terraform
