Staff Machine Learning Engineer

Intuit is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join our Mid-Market AI team. In this role, you’ll design, scale, and deploy AI and GenAI systems that power the next generation of ERP solutions. You’ll thrive in ambiguity, explore emerging technologies, and deliver innovative 0-to-1 solutions with the potential to scale across thousands of businesses, driving Intuit’s leadership in the ERP market.

Responsibilities

• 
  Design & Deploy: Build and scale machine learning and GenAI models using modern frameworks and industry best practices.

• Productionize AI: Develop and maintain ML-powered services, APIs, and pipelines that enable reliable deployment of models at scale.
• Data Engineering: Identify, integrate, and prepare diverse data sources; create features; and ensure datasets are optimized for training and inference.
• Experimentation & Evaluation: Design and run A/B tests, apply statistical methods, and translate results into actionable insights.
• Collaboration: Partner with AI scientists, product managers, and engineers to deliver end-to-end AI solutions aligned with customer needs.

• Innovation: Explore new technology shifts in AI/GenAI and assess their potential to enhance customer experiences.

Qualifications

• Education & Experience: Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience. 5+ years of industry experience in applied machine learning or AI engineering.

• Programming: Strong coding skills in Python and experience with modern ML/AI frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
• Data & Systems: Proficiency with data processing and query tools (e.g., SQL, Spark, Pandas) and building scalable pipelines.
• APIs & Services: Experience designing and deploying ML microservices, REST APIs, or related service architectures.
• Performance & Scale: Knowledge of computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, system performance) and experience deploying large-scale, production-grade systems.

• Cloud & Infrastructure: Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and leveraging GPU acceleration for ML workloads.

Collaboration & Communication: Strong ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders, lead discussions, and contribute to cross-functional decision making.

Pay offered is based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and work location. To drive ongoing fair pay for employees, Intuit conducts regular comparisons across categories of ethnicity and gender. The expected base pay range for this position is: Bay Area California: $197,000 - $266,500.
